Special Program

Made in Malaysia

Curator: WuBen Film Magazine Ongoing 3 films

“Made in Malaysia” is a platform dedicated to the screening and preservation of Malaysian Chinese-language films, showcasing local works that often disappear from public view after their theatrical release.

Malaysian Chinese-language film has long lacked a platform that can systematically present, organize, and provide access for academic research, film preservation, and new audiences. Many important films become difficult to see once their theatrical or festival run ends.

Through this program, audiences can experience Malaysia from the unique perspectives of each director, exploring social issues, personal and identity journeys, the history and nostalgia of the Nanyang region, and the experiences of the Chinese community in contemporary Malaysia.

We aim to bring these “hard-to-see” films back into the public eye, allowing the richness and diversity of Malaysian Chinese-language cinema to be rediscovered.
