I started filming stories of Africans in China in 2015. In addition to recording the cross-cultural experiences of African people in China, I also pay more attention to telling stories about the exchanges and interactions between Chinese persons at the grassroots level and Africans. Since 2018, we have documented a cosmetic factory opened by an African in Zhejiang. This documentary tells a story about the relationship between an African boss and Chinese employees in a relatively closed space. After the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, the public health emergency has gradually evolved into an economic crisis and a social crisis. Causing serious anxiety among the people in the world. People generally need a sense of security under the pressure of the pandemic. Through narrative this factory’s African boss and Chinese workers fight against the pandemic together, I expect to reveal the difficulties and sufferings experienced by ordinary Chinese people in areas other than Wuhan City and reflect the real picture of Chinese and African people engaged in the deep-level exchanges.
