As a filmmaker, I feel a growing sense of alarm about global warming—both through societal shifts and personal experience. I’m compelled to explore the relationship between humanity and nature: how can we reconcile ecological balance with human development? In my hometown in Northern China, factories spread relentlessly, draping the sky in a veil of pollution. Chemical runoff flows into the rivers, and each year the heat intensifies. The city’s spirit fades into the haze; connections between friends and family grow more distant. It’s within this obscured reality that my film, Memories of the Yellow River, took shape. I hope it stirs something in people—a response, a resonance—in the face of these urgent truths.
