The Bird House

The Bird House enters the life of a Chinese family in Melaka divided by heritage conservation. Two brothers clash over the fate of their ancestral house, while the aging father remains silent yet deeply affected. Shot on location in Melaka, the film marks Khoo Eng Yow’s feature debut.

Once a shelter, the old houses are now being torn down, converted to car parks, turn into huge bird houses. Through a simple story, I wish to portray the shifting relationships between human and their home.
